Login problems finstel

Whent using Winet and no connection to the server can be made it will display the following message:

This by itself does not give an indication as to the specific problem, it only tell you that the server that you are trying to connect to is not available.  Follow these steps.

  1. Make Sure your network cable is plugged in or that in case of wireless that your access point is on and that your PC is connected to the network.
  2. Can you see other computers that is connected to your in network neighbourhood? If not check that you are in the same IP range as thier systems e.g. 192.168.0.XXX.
  3. Open command prompt and type "PING 192.168.0.100" or whichever ip you server uses. (Consult your Administrator if you dont know your IP range.) If it replies that means there is comunication between your computer and the server, if it does not then there is a problem with the connection itself.
  4. If you get a reply and it still does not connect then open Winet again and check the following settings: Under the menu topic Setup select Hostnames. On that list there should be listed a Finstel reference with an IP address. If not create a new host called Finstel with your servers IP address. Close the window and select Setup again. Then choose Auto Connect and from the dropdown menu select the Finstel entry. Close Winet and save the settings when asked. Reopen Finstel and it shoul login.
  5. If all this fails contact your Support Center.
